To give you an example…
You could have great difficulty opening up to or connecting with people. This could be to the extent that you fear that no one will know if you die one day, or at the other extreme, that you will lose yourself completely if you get close to someone.
Or, you could have difficulty holding down a job because your team-mates cannot stand your know-it-all, condescending attitude. You could find that you lose interest in a person the moment they seem to truly care for you, which is in unbearable contrast to your hidden self-hatred.
Lastly, you could be stuck in a pattern of over-extending yourself, then feeling “taken for granted” and being full of rage at how no one cares as much, as consistently or as deeply as you do. You could find that you want nothing more than emotional intimacy, yet you seem to sabotage any healthy relationship that begins to develop.
